What is the cost of kindness?
We all know what kindness is, but what is it really worth?
What lies on the line for an act unseen, hidden in life’s dirt?
So easily forgotten, overlooked for details of more
Opportunities of endless consumption knocking on our door.
Our lives are so fast-paced. We see people for what they give
Forgetting they too have lives they’re striving just to live.
What is the cost of kindness? To make a gesture big or small.
It is but a passing moment seeking to give a little more.
To share a smile, be brave and forgive or simply hold a door.
Perhaps you’re in the right, and the other’s done you wrong.
Can you turn the other cheek? It’s what Jesus would have done.
What is the cost of kindness? Perhaps it’s releasing pride,
The expectation that things should be favoured to your stride.
Forgetting the moments when you think you deserve more than what you got,
To give a little, let go a little, not every moment’s your shot.
We are an anxious bunch, storing wealth and time as we spin
Thinking that our treasures will somehow give us peace within
What is the cost of kindness? What is it really worth?
A moment in time to let another know their life is worth the earth.
